March 2012

So, while I haven't blogged in ages (see notable gaps), I think I will. I met a new colleague today and realized I couldn't stop talking about L and motherhood. Fine for a little bit, but realized this proud, happy, crazy , worried mamma could use another outlet. I'll write here, and then at least it's optional to hear about the latest details, and my passion about the many shocking right-there-in-front-of-you changes that happen at least weekly.

The quick catch up - 6 and a half, which included a lunch of half items (half a sandwich, half a cookie, half an apple, etc.)
Ballet is the latest and greatest. I'm happy to report that she has no issues going, and doesn't seem to miss soccer a bit. (sorry friends. I DO miss hanging out.)

With two weeks until the first family wedding, there will be pictures galore soon. The flower girl is ready for her moment. She trained for this when she was three. No sweat :>

First grade is going well (at least I'm going with that until I get the real scoop at the parent teacher conference this week). The latest look - the big step up to messenger bag from back pack. Best $12.89 I've spent in a while.

June 2011

(I'll just pretend I've been blogging all along.)

Glad I grabbed this shot - it's so "every day".

Sunday - running off to church "a few minutes" late - breakfast in hand. She picked the outfit and did her hair - including the dollar store hairband she picked with her $1 - with the multi color strands hanging down. The new addition of the week is the overscaled purse. It was mine - being sold at a garage sale this weekend - and came home as hers. "Mom - watch this - in the sun it's purple, in the shade it's black, purple, black, purple, black". I knew it was holding a barbie, I didn't realize until church that she'd fit barbie's whole horse in there as well. Happy girl!

This is what 6 years minus 44 days looks like at our house. xoxo

Jennifer & Derek's wedding

Lily was so excited to take this flight. We headed to NJ for the week, and drove to Rhode Island from there.

Jen, Derek and their whole families had beautiful pictures taken out on these rocks by the ocean in Narragansett, RI. I love this picture. Lily was watching Jen and wanted to be a princess like her!

The big moment.

The party was extra fun for the kids. A really beautiful AND comfortable reception. Perfect!

4th of July

Parade ready. Thanks, Aunt Sheila for the dress.

The big excitement this week (of the 4th) was that Lily learned how to pronounce an L. This is a big deal for a Lily :D

A New Love

A Wednesday off with no agenda. I decided to bring Lily to a nearby stable I had noticed. She likes horses (haw-sies) and we'd agreed that when she's 8 she's going to ride a white one and Mamma rides a bown one. We were just going to look, but she was adamant about touching them. I finally gave in to the pony ride. She was. . . not excited . . . more than that. Beaming from inside. Doing what she was meant to do. I'd never seen this mix of excitement, joy and pride before. A special few moments. It will be interesting to see if it was the "something new" or the horseback riding.

The Lily Show

Our OJO video phones are out service. What a bummer! So I figured out how to get a video on youtube and now here. Next steps, editing and shooting video. Enjoy.

Christmas 2007

We had a great trip to Morristown to see family and friends. Next year I believe Santa will get more attention, but he didn't fit into the color coded spreadsheet of a schedule that Aunt "Deen Deen" made for us this year. It was full of parties - and Lil loves a party - and a party dress.

Favorite quote: "Ho Ho Socks". Lily's name for the 8 stockings hung down the staircase at Grandma and Papap's house. (Eight once one was added for Marlo - Uncle Bub's canine toddler)

Standout gift: Red leather boots that Aunt Sheila imported from Cheyenne, Wyoming. They're giving the favored froggy boots a run for their money.

Favorite picture from our card:

Other pictures will have to follow, as none of them are on my camera.

Happy, healthy 2008 to all!

Auntie Rocks

Lily and I were thrilled to have Aunt Geraldine visit us for Thanksgiving. All of her San Francisco fans were so glad to see her after being away for 7 months. She enjoyed a special day with Lily at Union Square - and friend Shawn, Lily's first haircut, and a new family singing "I wanna be like Ger". All of us appreciate the effort and visit. xoxo

Halloween 2007

In San Francisco, it's all about Boo at the Zoo! The weekend before Halloween, the kids all dress up and can trick-or-treat around the zoo. We were lucky to connect with lots of friends (and sorry to miss the Pixleys). A few pictures while Lily's still napping. (This is a record. Productive procrastination, I call it.)

Enjoy - and happy halloween!

One year later!

May 17th is our one year anniversary together! I'm amazed at how much my little bundle that could not sit up by herself has changed. Above is the referral picture I received last March, and early picture with Grandma and now.

Looks aren't all that's changed. I just threw on a white shirt. She walked out of my room with a different shirt for me (this one I really don't like -but keep because she does.) She motioned that I should but it on. "you don't like the one I have on?" and I got the scrunched face head shake. I knew it wouldn't be long before I couldn't pick you HER outfits - but thought I might make it to kindergarten before she cared what Mama was wearing!! Yikes!

We're happy to share this event with 8 awesome families. I thought it would be fun see the referral pictures of our Fu girls and a picture of them now. I'm still gathering them, and hope to have them up by the weekend.

Halloween

Hi All - We've had a terrific month. Lily has lots to learn about holidays, but she's off to a good start. We were so happy to have Papa come visit us!
